Free sandbags are available for residents of South Lake Tahoe who are about to see a major storm over the weekend. They sand and the bags are available at Fire Station 3 at 2101 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, but you’ve got to fill them yourself. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm and flood watches from Sunday through Monday with yup 3 feet of snow expected in the mountains, and drenching rains in areas of lower elevation that could lead to landslides or mudslides-particularly in areas where Caldor Fire burn scars are still fresh.
