Wildfires may begin impacting Lake Tahoe’s clarity. Scientists say they won’t know for quite some time with certainty whether the lake’s clarity is affected, but they’re studying how smoke particles enter the lake and whether it affects algae production. They believe that smoke, even from hundreds of miles away, could threaten the lake’s clarity.

Assemblywoman Krasner to run for state Senate seat

Assemblywoman Lisa Krasner plans to run for state Senate in the Reno-area. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the three-term Republican wants the seat soon to be vacated by term-limited state Senator Ben Kieckhefer in District 16. That district includes parts of Washoe County and Carson City.
