Washoe Co. deputy on leave after arrest

A Washoe County Sheriff’s Office sergeant is on administrative leave after being arrested earlier this month on domestic battery and DUI. Reno police handcuffed Levi Smith on September 11th. He also faces charges of obstruction and resisting arrest.

Man critical after being struck by vehicle in northeast Reno

A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle in northeast Reno Friday night. Police say the 54-year-old man was walking across Sutro Street near Timber Way when he was hit. He was hospitalized. The driver was also hospitalized for minor injuries and is cooperating with police.

Sparks, Stateline men sentenced in child sex trafficking case

Two men, arrested in an undercover operation, are heading to prison in a child sex trafficking case. Kurt Schneider of Sparks pleaded guilty in May to charges of soliciting a child for prostitution and attempted abuse of a child involving sexual exploitation. Orlando Alvarado of Stateline pleaded guilty a month later to the same charges. … Read more
