A Washoe County Sheriff’s Office sergeant is on administrative leave after being arrested earlier this month on domestic battery and DUI. Reno police handcuffed Levi Smith on September 11th. He also faces charges of obstruction and resisting arrest.
A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle in northeast Reno Friday night. Police say the 54-year-old man was walking across Sutro Street near Timber Way when he was hit. He was hospitalized. The driver was also hospitalized for minor injuries and is cooperating with police.
Truckee Police arrest a man on murder charges. Police say Bryan Ewry fatally stabbed a man at the Gateway Shopping Center Friday night. Police say Ewry and the victim knew each other.
Former Nevada Congressman James Bilbray has died. Bilbray served as congressman for nearly a decade from 1986 to 1995. He served as state senator prior to being elected to Congress. Bilbray was 83.
Two men, arrested in an undercover operation, are heading to prison in a child sex trafficking case. Kurt Schneider of Sparks pleaded guilty in May to charges of soliciting a child for prostitution and attempted abuse of a child involving sexual exploitation. A magnitude 4.0 earthquake strikes southeast of Gardnerville. The quake’s epicenter Saturday was near Walker, California. That area has had a string of earthquakes since July 8th when a magnitude 5.9 quake struck.
