Major marijuana grow operation shuttered in Douglas County

A major marijuana grow operation is shut down in Douglas County. The DEA says the grow was happening on more than 20 acres of tribal land in Gardnerville. A search Monday found 60,000 pot plants growing in several hoop houses. The marijuana totaled nearly 124,000 lbs. The plants were destroyed on-site and buried. So far, two people were arrested, but the DEA’s investigation into Chinese nationals allegedly associated with organized crime is ongoing.
