Nevada health care executive to run for US Senate

Health care executive Bill Hockstedler is running for U.S. Senate. He’ll face a host of candidates in the Republican primary, including former attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt. Hockstedler says he’s running on a platform that will strengthen at-home health care in rural areas.

NV lieutenant governor to resign for Biden administration post

Nevada’s lieutenant governor is resigning to take a position in the president’s administration. The Nevada Independent first reported Lt. Governor Kate Marshall plans to serve as a senior advisor to governors in the federal Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. She’ll continue in her state post until late fall.

Dixie Fire just keeps on growing

The Dixie Fire just keeps getting larger. Closing in on nearly 700,000 square acres, the fire has claimed more than 650 homes and a total of more than 1,200 structures. Crews are battling aggressive flames near Janesville. The fire is just 35% contained.

More young adults being hospitalized with COVID, health officials say

Washoe County is seeing a spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations among young adults.
