With the Delta variant spreading in Washoe County and the test positivity rate back over 6%, the Washoe County Health District (WCHD) is getting creative with how they are making the coronavirus vaccines available to the public. They’re holding vaccination PODS at places like schools, churches, foodbanks, bars, restaurants, Aces games, and events like Food Truck Fridays. No one vaccinated has died from COVID-19 in Washoe County, according to the WCHD. Their reports show all COVID-19 deaths since the vaccine rollout and all Delta variant deaths have been people who were unvaccinated. The WCHD’s goal is to vaccinate 70% to 75% of those old enough in Washoe County.
