The Federal Aviation Administration confirms four people died in a plane crash in Truckee Monday. The FAA says the plane was carrying two passengers and two members of a flight crew. Their names have not been released. The jet plane crashed near Ponderosa golf course Monday. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Firefighters are gaining some ground on the Tamarack Fire that’s now more than 68,000 acres. State Routes 89 and 4 in Alpine County are expected to reopen Wednesday. The fire is about 60 percent contained with full containment expected August 31st.

A house fire in Hawthorne is fueled by wind, causing flames to spread to other homes. At least four other homes were damaged, and now the Red Cross is providing shelter for displaces families. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A new events facility is coming to Fallon. The Churchill County Civic Center is being constructed next to the county fairgrounds.
