A Reno man will die in prison for the sexual assault of a child. A jury found 64-year-old William Alfaro guilty of seven counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 15 and three counts of lewdness in March. A judge sentenced Alfaro to 10 consecutive life sentences.
Carson City deputies need your help finding people who they say are breaking into commercial mailboxes. They say yesterday on north end of the city along Arrowhead Drive, two men, in their mid-to-late 20s used a white Hyundai sedan to roll up to mailboxes and steal content. Mandatory evacuations continue in Plumas County where the lightning-sparked Beckwourth Complex Fire now spans more than 3,000 acres, doubling in size from just days ago. The complex fire is just 34 percent contained.
A Reno fire truck is involved in a crash. It happened Wednesday along Mill Street near I-580. Deputies say a car pulled in front of the fire truck, which had its lights and sirens blaring. No one was seriously hurt.
