Firefighters continue to gain ground on the Tamarack Fire. The fire has swelled a bit to 68,000 acres, but it’s now 54 percent contained. All evacuation orders in Douglas and Lyon counties have been lifted. Evacuations in Alpine County, though, are rapidly changing. But those returning to their homes should be aware of heavy firefighter foot traffic in their neighborhoods and keep all kids and pets away from hot-spots that could flare up.
