WCSD offering bonuses to school bus drivers to combat worker shortage

To combat a critical worker shortage that could keep kids out of school, the Washoe County School District is offering bonuses to school bus drivers. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports they’re offering $2,000 bonuses to most – with $3,000 bonuses for drivers who return to their job and refer someone else who’s hired. Bus drivers are paid between $14 and $25 per hour. The bonuses will cost $ 2million and will be paid for with federal COVID-19 relief monies.
