There’s a protest Tuesday afternoon outside Washoe County School’s district office. Protect Nevada Children is protesting against the district’s decision to eliminate one of two public comment periods following marathon meetings that lasted up to 10 hours. The board typically hears public comment at the start and end of each meeting, but now it’s only holding public comment at the end of the meeting. The district says it’s still in compliance with open meeting laws and the change will allow for a more effective business meeting.
