Sun Valley, North Valleys students could be going to different schools

Children who live in Sun Valley and the North Valleys may be going to different schools for the 2022-23 school year. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the Washoe County School approved re-zoning measures in an effort to alleviate overcrowding at Alice Smith Elementary, O’Brien Middle, and North Valleys High. Now some students at those schools will go to either Allen or Bennett elementary schools, Desert Skies Middle or Hug High School. Juniors and seniors at North Valleys High can stay until graduation, if they choose. Board members say the plan creates a better balance with a low-impact on transportation.
