A strange disease is killing young black bears in the Sierra. California veterinarians say in the past year they’ve captured four bears with encephalitis. Scientists have also discovered five new viruses in some of the bears, but have yet to determine whether it’s to blame for the disease. They say a sign a bear is infected-they’re showing no fear around humans.
