Reno Aces push start of season to May

The Reno Aces have pushed the opening of their season until May to allow vaccines to be more widely distributed to players. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the decision was made across Minor League Baseball. The Aces’ first game will be a road game May 6th. They’ll play their home opener May 13th against Las Vegas.

Utah man arrested in Elko in teen kidnapping

A Utah man is arrested on kidnapping charges in Elko County. Deputies pulled over Santiago Nieves along I-80 in West Elko for speeding. They say his vehicle contained a 15-year-old girl he met online who they say he was planning to take out of the country without her parents’ permission.

Sparks Police look for purse snatcher

Sparks police are looking for a purse snatcher. They say a man caught on surveillance stole an 83-year-old woman’s purse from her cart from a shop on the 2800 block of Vista Boulevard earlier this month.

El Dorado Co. moves down to red zone in terms of COVID risk

El Dorado County is moving down on the COVID-19 risk dial. They’re moving from the most restrictive tier-purple-down to red. That means limited indoor dining at 25% capacity can be offered. Retailers can open at 50% capacity while movie theaters and gyms are at a lesser capacity.

Lyon Co. Fire gets 2 new engines

The Lyon County Fire Protection District unveiled its new fire engines last night. The new engine was physically pushed and pulled into the station on East Main Street as part of a special ceremony.
