A vehicle is damage by shots fired in Sparks. Police were called Fourth Street and Richards Way last night for reports of gunfire. They say the suspect fled in a grey Mazda and was later stopped and arrested. No one was hurt.

Active COVID cases fall below 4,000 in NV

The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County has fallen below 4,000. The county added one new death for a total of 646. The county added 242 recoveries and 34 new cases. 27 people are hospitalized with the virus.

Janssen Vaccines Administered in Washoe County

Fifty people in Washoe County are now fully vaccinated against coronavirus after just one dose of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine. Health officials report the Janssen vaccine being 100% effective against death, 85% effective against severe or critical illness and 66% effective against COVID-19.

Backlog of Concealed Carry Permits

The Washoe County sheriff’s office has announced plans to eliminate an enormous backlog of concealed carry weapons permit requests by July. There are more than 4,000 appointments booked for a permit in the county, with 72% being new applicants.
