Reno Aces get new field

The Reno Aces have a new major league field. They’ve got a brand new diamond and outfield at Greater Nevada Field for better playability. KOLO-TV reports fans will also notice new LED lighting and netting. The Aces’ home opener is scheduled for May 13th against the Las Vegas Aviators.

UNR survey finds confidence rising in COVID-19 vaccines

Seventy-three percent of Nevadans say they will get the COVID-19 vaccine in a UNR survey. That’s up nearly 10 percent from the month prior, showing that as time goes on confidence in the vaccine is rising. Experts say we’ll need 85 to 90% of the population to get the vaccine to meet herd immunity.

Washoe County hits key reopening metric

Washoe County hits a key milestone in its reopening process. The county’s 14-day positivity rate reached 5% — that’s a metric the World Health Organization wants to see ahead of reopening. NV Police Union backs bill that would end arrest and citation quotas

The Nevada Police Union is backing a bill that would prohibit law enforcement agencies from requiring peace officers to meet quotas for arrests and citations. Thy say it also pressures police to unfairly target drivers near the end of a quota period, and that quotas encourage more aggressive than effective policing

Crawl Reno hopes to return with Zombie Crawl this fall

Crawl Reno – which puts on various bar crawls around different holidays, says it will return with events once the state is fully open. Nevada opens at 50 percent starting Monday. Crawl organizers anticipate the Zombie Crawl in October may be their first event in more than a year.

Development near Damonte Ranch approved by Reno City Council

More homes are coming to Reno. Reno City Council approved the Canyons housing community above Damonte Ranch in a vote 5-2 Wednesday.
