NV lawmakers push legislative filing deadline

The deadline for Nevada lawmakers to introduce new bills to be considered this legislative session has been postponed. State lawmakers have pushed the deadline to March 22nd. We can expect to see proposals on energy policy initiatives and reforms to the state’s unemployment system.

Ski resorts celebrate foot of fresh snow

Ski resorts in Lake Tahoe are rejoicing over a foot of fresh snow that fell overnight. Kirkwood Mountain got the most snow at a foot-with Sierra-at-Tahoe reported 10 inches. Chain controls are in effect on Highway 50 and mountain passes.

2 homeless after North Valleys trailer fire

Two people are homeless after a fire at a trailer in North Valleys. Reno firefighters were called to Skyline Mobile Home Park on the 7900 block of North Virginia Street Sunday when a neighbor reported seeing flames. No one was hurt.

Pets killed in Sun Valley trailer fire

Several family pets have died in a trailer fire in Sun Valley. The fire broke out Saturday afternoon. Truckee Meadows firefighters were able to save two dogs, a goat, and a reptile. Investigators say the fire was sparked in the kitchen, rendering the trailer uninhabitable.

Marriage license fees could rise in Nevada

The cost getting married in Nevada could be going up. A bill being heard this week in the state Senate would raise the surcharge on marriage licenses. Funds raised would provide services to survivors of domestic violence.

Big Squeeze Starts Today

Nevada Department of Transportation says commuters should expect new lane and merge patterns throughout the week as part of the spaghetti bowl “Big Squeeze” construction. NDOT says wet weather delayed the construction and caused the schedule for the construction to shift. Officials say drivers can expect the following changes, but expect to add additional changes.
