Avalanche risk remains high in backcountry

Avalanche danger remains very real in the backcountry. Experts say there’s been 21 avalanche deaths this season-and 14 in the last week alone. Most avalanches are triggered by people skiing in the backcountry.

Trio arrested in Carson City car dealer theft

Three people are arrested in connection with a massive burglary at a Carson City car dealer. Deputies say Daniel McRunnel, Oscar Lopez and Michelle Navas of Stockton, California, stole a Jeep SUV and 22 key sets and remotes for other cars. Washoe County adds a single COVID-19 death for a total of 619. The latest death involves a man in his 80s with underlying health conditions. Recoveries far outpaced new infections at 333 compared to 80. Total active cases in Washoe are below 10-thousand. Just over 100 people here are hospitalized with the virus.
