Renown employees will start to receive the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, according to the hospital’s vice president of pharmacy. Unlike the first round, which was administered at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, the second shots will be given at the hospital’s South Meadows location. The second dose will ultimately give people around 95% protection from the virus that has killed over 356,000 Americans. According to state health officials, 34,540 Nevadans have been vaccinated as of Jan. 3, or roughly 1% of the state population.
