The Douglas County sheriff’s office is warning about a new scam. They say someone is posing as a deputy or sergeant from their officer, and they’re spoofing the number to make it look like it’s actually coming from the sheriff’s office. The scammer tells the person on the other end of the phone that they owe money for fines or a warrant will be issued. The sheriff’s office reminds you it will never demand money over the phone in lieu of arrest.
