Lake Tahoe Shuts Down to Tourists

Parts of Lake Tahoe are shutting down to travelers through the rest of December amid rising COVID-19 hospitalizations. Vacation travel to the ski destination will be banned starting Friday after the state of California announced the greater Sacramento region, which includes parts of Lake Tahoe, will be closed for at least three weeks. The stay-at-home order tells residents to stay at home as much as possible. This includes limiting all outdoor recreation. As for businesses, they must move to curbside pick-up or to-go only. Hotels can operate but some may only accommodate essential workers.
