Data shows COVID is leading cause of death in NV in December

COVID-19 is now the leading cause of death in Nevada for the month of December. At Tuesday’s COVID-19 task force meeting, biostatistician Kyra Morgan says in a normal month, the Silver State sees between 550 and 650 deaths tied to heart disease. She says COVID deaths in the state, to date, stand at nearly 700 this month.

Tuesday, Washoe County added 14 COVID-19 deaths, marking the second highest death count since the pandemic began. The worst day on-record for Washoe County was December 18th, when we had 15 deaths. The county added 94 new cases and 83 recoveries.
