WCSD schools won’t go full remote as active cases surpass 4,000 for the 1st time

Washoe County Schools won’t move towards full distance learning plans despite a dramatic spike in COVID-19 cases that the health district says it can’t keep up with, when it comes to contact tracing. Instead, the approach will be to shutter schools where contact tracing is lagging or there are staff shortages. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the health district believes there are more than 200 pediatric cases of COVID-19 that have yet to be investigated for possible in-school transmission of the virus. The district had previously said no cases were linked to attending school in-person. The latest schools to close and go temporarily remote are Hugh High and Vaughn Middle. Washoe County, for the first time, surpassed 4-thousand active cases.
