A Sparks man is arrested in connection with a violent attack on his grandmother. Police say Michael O’Day tried to strangle his 88-year-old grandmother with a plastic bag then beat her over the head with brick-like object Saturday night; she was hospitalized. Police found O’Day driving in Reno-where they say he tried to drive off with an officer hanging out of his window. He was charged with battery with a deadly weapon-those charges were enhanced due to the victim’s age-and assault with a deadly weapon.
