Douglas Co. to appeal COVID-19 fines for hosting Trump rally

Douglas County says it plans to appeal fines levied against it by the state for hosting a rally for President Trump that violated coronavirus restrictions on gatherings. Douglas County Commissioners called the fines “petty and vindictive.” County manager Patrick Cates said he permitted the rally at Minden-Tahoe airport to go forward and he stands by the decision. A GoFundMe, featured on KKFT, raised more than enough to cover the more than 5-thousand -dollars in fines slapped against the county and the airport. Cates says just one COVID-19 case was linked to the rally that drew a crowd of 28,000 people.
