Washoe County school students could be heading back home as Superintendent Kristin McNeill recommends they return to remote instruction, starting December 7th. The recommendation came amid rising COVID-19 cases that are causing staff shortages and a lack of testing capacity. A hybrid model of learning would not resume until January 19th. McNeill says she knows in-person learning is best for students but without community resources, they’re forced to make this “gut-wrenching” recommendation. The board must will vote on it.
Wednesday, Washoe County added five new COVID-19 deaths for a total of 227. The county added just over 300 cases and more than 150 recoveries. More than 230 persons remain hospitalized with the virus.
