One-hundred nutrition service employees in the Washoe County School District are being furloughed. The decision came at an emotional meeting yesterday and is the result of a significant drop in students using school meal programs due to COVID-19. In February, the employees served 45,000 meals daily-in September, they served less than 19,000, which has led to a drop in federal funds.
