First Female to Lead Nevada Highway Patrol

For the first time in its history, the Nevada Highway Patrol has appointed a woman to lead the agency as colonel. Anne Carpenter assumed command Monday, where she will oversee about 600 employees, including 491 sworn officers. Carpenter began her career as a Department of Public Safety officer in 1995 and gradually rose through the ranks, serving as an officer, sergeant, major and most recently chief of the Parole and Probation Division.
