COVID-19 Cases are Surging at the Washoe County Jail

Coronavirus cases at the Washoe County jail have more than quadrupled in the last week, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. As of Thursday, 48 inmates and nine staff members had tested positive for COVID-19, up from 11 inmates and five staff members on Oct. 21. Officials placed the jail, located on Parr Boulevard north of Reno, on lockdown in order to do contact tracing.
