Cases of COVID-19 among younger children have doubled in Washoe Co.

A concerning COVID-19 trend…new cases of the virus have more than doubled in children under the age of 9 in Washoe County. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the county reported 50 new cases in children ages 9 and under last week. That’s up significantly from 23 cases during the week prior. Since the start of the pandemic, children ages 9 and under have accounted for 514 total cases. Children ages 10 to 19 saw an increase in cases too but at a lesser rate with cases rising from 69 to 82.

Meantime, cases of COVID 19 rose by 126 in Washoe County Monday. The county added 2 new deaths–for a total of 195, and 111 recoveries.
