Up to 1 million people in northern California are still in the dark for a second day as PG&E seeks to guard its equipment from sparking a fire. California is seeing some of the most dangerous winds of the year as it remains in the middle of its most devastating wildfire season in history. Winds of up to 60 miles per hour are expected. This marks the fifth time the utility has had cut power to customers, and by far, it’s the largest shutdown this year. Around this time last year, PG&E transmission lines sparked the Kincade Fire that destroyed hundreds of homes and forced 100,000 evacuations.
