Sparks suspends mutual aid to CA after firefighter contracts COVID-19

Sparks will no longer send firefighters to California to battle wildfires raging out of control after one of their own comes down with COVID-19. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the firefighter returned from duty in California and tested positive last week, forcing seven other firefighters to quarantine. The fire station where the firefighter worked was also shuttered for a night for a deep cleaning. The mutual aid suspension comes at a time when Sparks needs to ensure it can take care of fires here at home.
