Washoe Schools headquarters vandalized

The headquarters for Washoe County Schools is vandalized. The words “No Justice” were splattered in red paint across the administrative building on East Ninth Street. The discovery was made just before school reopened Tuesday morning. Police are investigating. Last month, Sparks City Hall also saw similar vandalism.

Man arrested in hit-and-run in South Lake Tahoe

A man is arrested in connection with a hit-and-run in South Lake Tahoe. Police handcuffed 63-year-old Colin Hauge of South Lake Tahoe; he’s accused of mowing down a woman who was riding a Lime Scooter last week and then fleeing the scene. The victim is recovering.

Several lightning-sparked fires combine in Susanville

Several lightning sparked fires have merged into one large fire, north of Reno. The North Complex consists of seven separate fires. One fire-the Sheep Fire-burning in Plumas National Forest, is the result of three fires combining. Flames can be see burning on the hillside above Susanville.

Suspected fentanyl supplier from AZ nabbed by Washoe deputies

A suspected fentanyl supplier is arrested by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Regional Narcotics Unit. They say an undercover operation spanning six month led to the arrest of Jesus Camacho-Luque of Phoenix, Arizona. CA officials say people getting outdoors during pandemic is sparking more fires

Officials in California say the COVID-19 pandemic is leading to more fires. They say since people can’t go on vacation, more people are opting outside-and that’s leading to unattended campfires that can easily start larger fires. Campfires have been banned in Nevada in what’s been a record-breaking wildfire season for fires sparked by humans.
