Washoe County’s COVID-19 death toll rises to 118

Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Washoe County, bringing the overall death toll to 118. The latest deaths involve a woman in her 40s with no underlying health conditions and a man in his 70s with underlying health conditions. The county added 123 cases and 80 recoveries.

Hog Fire burning in CA 98% contained

The Hog Fire that’s been burning for more than two weeks near Susanville is nearly contained. At last check, the more than 9,500-acre fire destroyed two buildings though as many as 170 were threatened for a time. The fire, which sent smoke into Washoe County, is now 98 percent contained.

Lyon County woman dies from COVID-19

A Lyon County woman dies from coronavirus. Health officials say she was in her 80s and had underlying health conditions. She’s the 6th Lyon County person to die from the virus, and the 14th in the Quad-County region-which saw 6 new cases and 15 recoveries Thursday.
