Campfires banned statewide

Campfires have been banned indefinitely statewide after an increase in human-sparked fires. The new restrictions prohibit all open flame campfires on state and federal lands, including within campgrounds. Violators face fines of up to $5,000 and even six months in jail.

Latest COVID-19 Numbers

Officials reported 43 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County on Monday, and 66 recoveries.The total number of cases now stands a 5,835. No new deaths were reported.

Washoe County’s online school sees record enrollment

Washoe County’s only online school sees record enrollment amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports North Star has quadrupled enrollment from 250 to more than 1,000 students. It comes as parents appear weary of sending their kids back to the classroom-despite Washoe saying schools will reopen against the health district’s recommendations.

Latest COVID-19 Numbers

Washoe County on Sunday reported two COVID-19 related deaths, giving the county 120 overall. The deaths were a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s, both with underlying health conditions. 36 new cases. Forty-one percent of all intensive care unit beds are occupied, and 16 percent of all ventilators are in use.
