Fire stopped in Silver Springs

A structure catches fire in Silver Springs. Central Lyon firefighters were called to Fir Street Wednesday. No other structures were threatened, and no one was hurt.

New casino coming to Boomtown

A new casino is coming to Boomtown. Reno City Council approved the 7,500 sq. ft. casino in an area that used to serve as a helicopter landing pad for Boomtown Casino. The small casino will max out at 165 slot machines and five table games.

RFD Put Out Blaze at the Old Bibo Coffee Co. Building

The Reno Fire Department put out a fire at the old Bibo Coffee Company building early this morning.Officials say the fire started just after 12:45 a.m. on East Ninth Street and Evans Avenue. They say part of Ninth Street was closed, but it has since reopened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

New Jobs Coming to Northern Nevada

The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada announced four new companies to Northern Nevada on Wednesday. The companies will create more than 600 jobs for the region. The Washoe County School District is reporting a suspected positive COVID-19 case at Rollan Melton Elementary School. Out of an abundance of caution and due to possible exposure, all Melton Elementary School employees worked from home on Wednesday so the school could be thoroughly cleaned.

Woman sentenced to life in prison in Sparks murder

A woman is sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of second-degree murder. Deputies say Nicole Dattke shot and killed Michael Krantz outside the Campion Motel in Sparks last September. She must serve a decade in prison before becoming eligible for parole.
