Washoe, Douglas deputies won’t criminally enforce mask mandate

While Governor Sisolak’s mask-wearing mandate IS the law, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam says his deputies won’t be arresting anyone for not wearing a mask. Due to the minor nature of the offense and the potential for negative encounters, Baalam says his deputies will be taking an educational approach -rather than trying to criminally enforce the mask mandate. Douglas County deputies are taking the same stance. Both. They’re also asking you not call 911, if you use someone not wearing a mask.
