Sisolak calls shooting of Las Vegas police officer ‘senseless’ as civil unrest continues nationwide

Las Vegas police officer Shay Mikalonis is fighting for his life after being shot during a protest on the Las Vegas Strip. Police identified Edgar Samaniego using video surveillance; they found him at a motel across the street from the shooting outside Circus Circus. A heavily armed man, identified as Jorge Gomez was also fatally shot outside the federal courthouse in Las Vegas Monday night. Governor Steve Sisolak called it a “difficult” day for Nevada. He called the shooting of a Las Vegas officer “senseless” and says there’s no place for this kind of behavior in Nevada. Sisolak is seeking peaceful solutions and calls to action and healing.
