Local Law Enforcement Looks at Policing Practices

Multiple law enforcement agencies took part in a virtual town hall Monday to discuss how community policing practices have been implemented in northern Nevada over the past two years. Doctor Angie Taylor and Reno City Councilman Oscar Delgado started the discussion in 2016 when the two shared their concerns about officer-involved shootings and police brutality in minority communities. Following their concerns in 2016, the three major law enforcement agencies in Washoe County asked the Guinn Center in 2018 to compare local police practices with former President Barack Obama’s task force report on 21st century policing.
