Reno, Sparks, Carson City do temporary layoffs amid COVID-19 pandemic

Reno, Sparks, and Carson City are making cuts to the recreational departments amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Reno has temporarily laid-of 368 part-time parks and rec staff, while Sparks laid off 177 part-time employees, including life guards, and sports officials as well as after school programming staff. In Carson City ,150 employees are affected. Lyon County, meantime, is freezing all salaries and won’t fill any vacancies.
