Winnemucca toddler dies after rattlesnake bite

A Winnemucca toddler is dead after being bit by a rattlesnake. News 4 reports Alyssa Johnson was taken to Humboldt County Hospital, where they say she was denied anti-venom treatment and eventually transferred to Renown, where she later died. The hospital didn’t return the TV station’s request for comment.

Washoe County health officials reported two new deaths, 13 recoveries and 22 additional cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. There are 45 COVID-19 related deaths in Washoe County. The county’s total number of positive cases is 1,154 along with 575 recoveries. Quad County reports the first COVID-19 case in Storey County.

Quake in Western Nevada this Morning

The U.S. Geological Service is reporting that a magnitude-6.4 earthquake struck in remote western Nevada early this morning. The temblor was reported at 4:03 a.m. about 35 miles outside Tonopah, just east of the Sierra Nevada range. People from Salt Lake City, Utah, to California’s Central Valley tweeted that they felt the quake.
