Experts warn of potentially bad fire season as area sees 1st heatwave

As Lake Tahoe is in the middle of a week-long heatwave –the first of the season — it could be a predictor of a potentially bad fire season. The National Weather Service in Reno says above normal temperatures and dry conditions, predicted for most of this summer, coupled with low precipitation could make conditions ripe for fire. They’re predicting grass and sagebrush fires in the valleys and timber fires in the Lake Tahoe area.
