Reno Councilwoman Pushes for More First Responders

A Reno counclwoman is suggesting a property tax increase to pay for more police officers and firefighters in the city’s budget. Councilwoan Naomi Duerr, who was first elected in 2014, floated the idea of a ballot initiative to fund public safety during the city’s budget meetings this week. Duerr’s staff is now looking into the possibility of an advisory question or a ballot initiative to gauge the public’s interest in the tax increase.
