A Nevada law could be expanded on the federal level.U.S. Senator for Nevada Catherine Cortez Masto introduced the Confidentiality Opportunities for Peer Support Counseling Act on the Senate floor Wednesday-aimed at stopping police suicides. The measure protects the anonymity of officers taking part in peer support counseling programs. The program is in effect within the Reno Police Department, where chief Jason Soto says it’s shown positive results.
