The Washoe Co. M.E. Identifies Motorsyclist Killed Last Week

The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died following a motorcycle crash on South Virginia Street in Reno last Thursday. The ME’s Office says 24-year-old Anthony Barrera, of Reno, was pronounced dead on scene. The cause and manner of death are pending investigation.

A brush fire-the first of the New Year-is contained on Peavine Mountain. The fire, near Stead grew from 10 acres to 67 before it was contained. Man’s body found in Truckee River

A body is found in the Truckee River over the weekend. Police say the adult male’s body was found by an angler Saturday afternoon near the Glendale Avenue bridge. The man’s cause of death remains under investigation.

Carson Mint celebrates 150 years

The Carson Mint is celebrating 150 years. The U.S. Mint Director will join Governor Steve Sisolak and others at the Nevada State Museum Tuesday to celebrate. Admission is free with festivities kicking off at 9:30 a.m. There, they’ll mint a special medallion in honor of the 150th anniversary.
