Man arrested on arson, DUI charges

A man is arrested on arson and DUI charges. Police say 26-year-old Levi benbow started a fire at a home on the 4700 block of Summit Ridge Road during a domestic dispute, then drove away while under the influence, causing a rollover crash.

Small brush fire burning in Minden

Firefighters make quick work of a small brush fire in Minden. It broke out yesterday near the Silver City RV Resort. The fire only spanned about a half-acre. No word yet on a cause.

Peavine Mountain fire sparked by target shooting, investigators say

Investigators are searching for those who set a fire in rugged terrain on Peavine Mountain. They say the February 1 fire was sparked by target shooters. It spanned 69 acres before they got it under control. They’re also reminding you that despite it being winter-temperatures have been midler than normal, and fires are still possible.

Carson Schools Chief Gets New Contract

The Carson City School Board of Trustees met Tuesday evening to discuss some important issues. They voted unanimously to approve a new two-year contract for Superintendent Richard Stokes. It starts in July and runs through June 2022. A small percentage increase was also voted on, increasing Stokes’ salary to $173,189 beginning this summer.
