Reno City Manager to Resign

Reno city manager Sabra Newby is resigning from her position effective in July because of family reasons. Newby, who was picked for the job in March 2017, announced her departure in a letter to the Reno City Council and city staff late Wednesday night.

Sparks Police Officer Involved Shooting

The Sparks Police Department says a hostage situation turned into an officer-involved shooting at the Park Vista Apartments in the 500 block of Sparks Boulevard on Thursday night. Officials said the suspect is dead and a female victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.

Reno cracks down on massage parlors

Reno is cracking down on massage parlors. In response to human trafficking concerns, they’re now requiring federal background checks on all massage business owners. They’re also requiring that the facilities have no recording devices, no tinted windows, and no ATMs on site. They also can’t operate 24 hours a day.
