Wastewater could hold key to true COVID-19 infection rate in NV

Researchers at UNLV are studying wastewater as part of an effort to determine just how many COVID-19 infections there may be in Nevada. They’re hoping to be able to predict new strains of the virus as well as the vaccine’s effectiveness once its administered widely. In other communities across the nation, wastewater studies have shown COVID-19 infection rates five times higher than positive test results show.
