A suspect is dead in an officer-involved shooting in Sparks. It happened Tuesday on Victorian Avenue downtown. Sparks police say a suspect hit a police car, which resulted in shots fired, and the suspect dead. Reno police will assume the investigation.
Starting this week, the Nevada Hospital Association is allowing Nevada hospitals to perform elective surgeries again. That covers surgeries that are planned ahead of time and not an emergency. The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe’s natural resources and tribal administration buildings are closed after possible COVID-19 exposures. The buildings will undergo a thorough cleaning before they’re reopened. The emergency operations center has temporarily moved to the fire station in Nixon as a result.
Douglas County is discontinuing its community access channels. The decision comes after a community survey recently determined an overwhelming number of residents rely on social media, local media, and the county’s website for their information. More than 70 percent of participants had no idea community access channels even existed.
