Elective Surgeries to resume

Starting this week, the Nevada Hospital Association is allowing Nevada hospitals to perform elective surgeries again. That covers surgeries that are planned ahead of time and not an emergency. At Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Reno, officials said they are starting with medically necessary elective surgeries.

Quad County Offering Symptom-Free Testing

The Quad-County Incident Management team began offering symptom-free COVID-19 testing Tuesday strictly to residents. Hundreds of people did drive-thru testing at Carson High School as Carson City Health and Human Services and Nevada National Guard assisted in administering tests.

Reno, Sparks, and Carson City are making cuts to the recreational departments amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Reno has temporarily laid-of 368 part-time parks and rec staff, while Sparks laid off 177 part-time employees, including life guards, and sports officials as well as after school programming staff. Douglas County is discontinuing its community access channels. The decision comes after a community survey recently determined an overwhelming number of residents rely on social media, local media, and the county’s website for their information. More than 70 percent of participants had no idea community access channels even existed.
